Peter’s clients include local, regional, national and international employers involved in a wide range of industries, such as manufacturing, professional services, construction, healthcare, technology, financial services, nonprofits, real estate, transportation and consulting, among others. Peter is skilled in an array of labor and employment matters, including employment policies and procedures under federal, state and local laws and regulations, employment contracts, independent contractor issues, wage and hour issues, wrongful termination, harassment and employment discrimination.
Peter defends litigation, mediation and arbitration involving discrimination claims, harassment claims, disability claims, Fair Labor Standards Act collective actions, whistleblower claims, executive employment contracts, shareholder/employee issues, corporate governance, compensation claims and noncompete, unfair competition, non-solicitation and trade secrets restrictions and appeals in the federal and state courts.
As a traditional labor lawyer, Peter provides legal counsel pertaining to collective bargaining, union organizing, elections, unfair labor practices and strikes. Peter also advises on the special issues arising from the intersection of labor relations and antitrust law.
Peter has many years of experience representing nonprofit associations and foundations in both employment and general governance advice and in litigation.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Peter was a partner at Burr & Forman LLP, where he served in the firm’s Labor & Employment and Non-Compete & Trade Secrets practice groups, and was a partner in Littler Mendelson’s Atlanta office.
