In addition to his deep tax policy background, Brandt authored landmark telecommunications deregulation legislation widely lauded as the best in the nation, leading to investments of more than $5 billion in telecommunications infrastructure across Indiana.

Previously, Brandt was executive director of the Program on Continuing Education for Public Officials at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

In addition to his B.A. from Purdue University and his J.D. from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, he also earned two executive certificates, one in comparative tax policy and administration from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and one in finance and financial management services from Cornell University.
As a leader in the tax and public policy field, he has been a frequent speaker across the country and internationally, and has testified before state legislatures outside of Indiana on energy and tax issues.
