Steve Hernández Joins Leadership Council on Legal Diversity 2016 Fellows Class

LOS ANGELES – Steve L. Hernández, a partner in the Los Angeles office, has been selected as a Fellow and will participate in a landmark program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.

“It is an honor to be selected among this group of experienced attorneys who are being recognized as leaders in their organizations,” Hernández said. “Being involved in LCLD will provide me with resources to help build my practice as well as create valuable connections through networking opportunities with peers.”

Hernández focuses his practice on traditional labor and employment law and has extensive experience litigating individual discrimination and wage and hour cases, as well as class actions. Hernández provides employers with guidance relating to unfair labor practices, labor disputes, and collective bargaining negotiations. He previously worked as an attorney for Region 21 of the National Labor Relations Board.

Launched in 2011, the LCLD Fellows program is an ambitious, highly structured initiative built to increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments. Over the course of the year-long program, participants will be challenged to improve their professional brand, build relationships that enhance professional development, participate in corporate learning experiences, and sharpen stewardship and leadership skills.

According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants “an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.”

Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 240 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession. The LCLD Fellows program, which has trained more than 800 mid-career attorneys since 2011, is one of LCLD’s most important initiatives.

With more than 600 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from 12 offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Los Angeles, Michigan, Minneapolis, Ohio, and Washington, D.C.
