MINNEAPOLIS – Barnes & Thornburg is proud to announce that of counsel Michael Boulette has received the American Bar Association’s (ABA) 2019 On the Rise - Top 40 Young Lawyers Award. He is among 40 young ABA lawyer members recognized for their high professional achievement, innovation, vision, leadership, and legal and community service.
Boulette was recognized for his litigation work in Barnes & Thornburg’s Family Law Group. This encompasses complex divorce, child custody, and parentage matters and serving as appellate counsel on cases before both the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court.
In addition to his practice, Boulette was acknowledged for his extensive pro bono and community contributions. This includes providing counsel to survivors of abuse and domestic violence through the Tubman Safety Project and the Children’s Law Center, and his recent role as lead counsel in a case before the Minnesota Supreme Court addressing the right of an unmarried father to notice of a change of his children’s names. He also serves as a mentor and educator to law students and lawyers early in their careers through his alma mater, the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
Boulette is consistently lauded for his outstanding service work and professional accomplishments. He was recently awarded the 2019 Hennepin County Bar Association (HCBA) Excellence Award for Providing Pro Bono Service and with the Minnesota Bar Association’s Professional Excellence Award, the Associations highest honor. In addition, he was named one of Minnesota Lawyer’s 2018 Up & Coming Attorneys and has been included in the Minnesota Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for the past seven years.
Boulette was recognized with this award during the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division’s Awards Breakfast on August 10 in San Francisco.
