Barnes & Thornburg Recognized for Corporate Philanthropy by Minnesota Keystone Program

MINNEAPOLIS – National law firm Barnes & Thornburg LLP has become the newest member of the Minnesota Keystone Program, a corporate philanthropy designation of the Minneapolis Regional Chamber. Barnes & Thornburg has been included in the 5% Club, a designation for Keystone members that donate more than 5 percent of annual revenue.

The Minnesota Keystone Program recognizes area companies that donate at least 2 percent of their pre-tax earnings to charitable organizations. Since joining the Minneapolis business community, Barnes & Thornburg has provided a variety of contributions and pro bono services to organizations and individuals.

“As a proud member of the corporate community, we are honored and humbled to be recognized alongside so many other great companies that make up the Chamber’s Minnesota Keystone Program,” said Connie A. Lahn, managing partner of the firm’s Minneapolis office. “We believe in supporting the communities where we work and live, and look forward to upholding our commitment as a productive member of this community.”

Companies qualify for the program, which was instituted in 1976, if they have a Minnesota presence and contribute cash or in-kind donations, including pro bono services and volunteerism.

Barnes & Thornburg increased attorney involvement in pro bono work to more than 90 percent in 2018 and more than doubled per attorney pro bono hours. Additionally, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey recognized the firm as a “Leading Law Firm” in Minneapolis for its efforts and commitment to provide services to low-income clients facing eviction.

This latest recognition builds on several other accolades the firm has received in recent years, including as a 2018 Best Places to Work honoree by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, a leadership award from Minnesota Women Lawyers and being named by Minnesota Business Magazine as one of the 100 best companies to work for.

Firm leaders will represent Barnes & Thornburg at the Minnesota Keystone celebration on Dec. 13 in Minneapolis.

With more than 600 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from offices in Atlanta, California, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Michigan, Minneapolis, Ohio, Texas and Washington, D.C.
