New Attorneys Join Atlanta, Grand Rapids and Washington, D.C., Offices

Barnes & Thornburg LLP has added four new attorneys to its Atlanta, Grand Rapids and Washington, D.C., offices:

David C. Hill is of counsel in the firm’s Grand Rapids office. As a member of the Real Estate Department, Hill develops and implements acquisition, leasing, sale, financing, development and construction strategies on behalf of local and national real estate owners and developers. He represents private investors and lending institutions to structure loans for projects, including construction, bridge and participating loans and loans secured by leases. In addition, Hill advises clients in a wide range of business transactions, including mergers and acquisition, entity restructuring, succession planning, contract matters and asset protection. After graduating magna cum laude from Michigan State University with a B.A. in 2005, Hill earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School in 2008.

Nicholas A. Galbraith is an associate in Barnes & Thornburg’s Washington, D.C., office and is a member of the Corporate Department and International Trade Practice Group. He advises domestic and international clients on a wide range of complex trade matters. In 2014, Galbraith earned his J.D. from Georgetown University. During law school, Galbraith served as a legal intern with the Humane Society of the United States. He graduated from the University of the District of Columbia with a B.A. in 2011.

Sarah Hannah Newman is an associate in the Atlanta office, where she is a member of the Litigation Department. Newman concentrates her practice on complex commercial and insurance coverage litigation, representing policyholders in various industries. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Newman worked for an Atlanta-based firm, where she represented banks and other financial institutions in a variety of litigation matters, including contract disputes, lender liability, fraudulent transfers and commercial asset recovery. Newman earned her J.D., cum laude, from University of Georgia School of Law. She earned a master’s degree in teaching, summa cum laude, from Converse College and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Wofford College.

Marcus A. Powers is an associate in the firm’s Corporate Department in the Atlanta office. Powers advises public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions, asset purchases and sales, corporate reorganizations, commercial lending, and corporate finance transactions. He has assisted clients in the managed healthcare, real estate investment, consumer product, manufacturing, hospitality/alcoholic beverage, and technology (SaaS) industries, among others. In 2014, Powers earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. In 2009, he earned his B.B.A. from the University of Florida.
