Three Barnes & Thornburg Attorneys Named Leaders in Law by The Indiana Lawyer

INDIANAPOLIS – Three Barnes & Thornburg LLP attorneys have received 2015 Leadership in Law Awards from The Indiana Lawyer. Kenneth J. Yerkes, a partner in the Indianapolis office, has been named a “Distinguished Barrister.” Angela B. Freeman and David J. Pryzbylski, associates in the Indianapolis office, were named “Up and Coming Lawyers.”

Yerkes received the Distinguished Barrister award, which honors veteran lawyers who have made an impact in the state. He is chairman of the firm’s Labor & Employment Department. Yerkes has spent more than 30 years successfully fighting for his clients' business objectives at the bargaining table, in federal and state court matters, in arbitrations and on the ground in plants across the country through proactive training and counseling. Yerkes is a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the Litigation Counsel of America and he was selected by Best Lawyers as the 2015 Lawyer of the Year in Labor & Employment for Indiana.

Freeman received the Up and Coming Lawyer award for professional and legal achievements early in her practice. With a background of nearly 15 years as a biologist at the University of Louisville Birth Defects Center and Eli Lilly and Company, Freeman assists clients in highly technical intellectual property matters, including patent protection of life sciences and biotech inventions. Freeman was also recognized for her outstanding community involvement, particularly focused on increasing diversity and inclusion in science, technology, engineering, math and legal fields.

Pryzbylski also was honored with the Up and Coming Lawyer award in recognition for various legal victories he has helped clients achieve throughout the country, as well as for significant pro bono contributions to the Indianapolis community. He is a member of the Labor & Employment Department and focuses his practice on assisting employers with traditional labor matters, employment litigation and proactive counseling and training on labor relations issues.

The Indiana Lawyer established the Leadership in Law awards in 2006 as a way to honor outstanding lawyers who have shown a commitment to their peers, clients and the Indiana legal community. The Distinguished Barrister award was presented to 16 lawyers in Indiana and the Up and Coming award was presented to 15 lawyers in Indiana.
