Trace Schmeltz, co-chair of the firm’s Financial and Regulatory Litigation practice group, will present Investors Rights and Shareholder Litigation Primer for U.S. Capital Markets at the American Bar Association’s (ABA) 2024 International Law Section (ILS) Conference. Trace will present alongside Molly J. Brown of CohenMilstein, Brian Fryd of Cornerstone Research, and Joseph S. Simms of Reminger Law.

The presentation will focus on the U.S. securities laws and the evolution of investor rights, the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995, the role of institutional investors, institutional investors as lead plaintiffs, securities class action litigation, the stages of securities litigation, serving as lead plaintiff and lead plaintiff selection, direct action of opt-out litigation, corporate governance litigation, shareholder derivative litigation and protecting the portfolio company, and corporate governance class actions.
