David Spooner and Luis Arandia attended the 9th Annual Global Trade Educational Conference at the Omni Hotel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where they participated in separate panels to over 225 attendees. David’s panel, “Textiles in the Western Hemisphere,” discussed the apparel rules in the United States’ Western Hemisphere trade agreements, focusing on the Central America-Dominican Republic FTA (CAFTA-DR). His panel explained the CAFTA-DR Agreement’s rules of origin, highlighting common importer mistakes and the differences between CAFTA and other regional trade agreements. Luis’ panel, “Protests: Legal Tips and Tactics,” provided basic and advanced legal tips and tactics on submitting protests to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Luis also covered the fundamentals of protests including an overview of the respective statute and regulations. The conference was hosted by the NCBFAA Educational Institute (NEI) and the firm was a sponsor.
