OVERVIEW

Bill Leeder concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation. A formidable and strategic advocate, Bill is valued by his clients for his practical approach to resolving disputes in a cost-effective and creative fashion. He has represented a diverse array of clients in virtually all aspects of litigation and dispute resolution in state and federal courts across the country.

Bill represents national pharmaceutical wholesalers, automotive suppliers, financial institutions, national retailers and heavy equipment manufacturers in a wide range of commercial litigation matters.

Bill has experience handling dealer termination litigation for large national manufacturers. He has also represented myriad national and regional financial institutions in fraudulent conveyance cases, judicial and non-judicial foreclosures, receiverships, collection actions and post-judgment supplementary proceedings.

In addition, Bill offers extensive experience defending officers and directors of closely held corporations against breach of fiduciary duty and minority oppression claims. He is skilled in drafting, defending and enforcing non-compete clauses and litigating claims for the misappropriation of trade secrets. Bill also defends product liability and breach of warranty cases for manufacturing clients.

Recently, Bill has devoted a significant amount of his practice to representing a wholesale drug distributor in the complex federal multidistrict litigation related to opioid distribution in the United States as well as related state court litigation. Moreover, he has tried cases in the Western District of Michigan, the Eastern District of Michigan, and in a number of Michigan state courts regarding a broad range of corporate and business litigation matters.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Bill practiced in Chicago, Illinois. While attending Wake Forest University, he was a four-year starter on the Demon Deacon football team.
