Michael Elam of the Chicago office participated in the fourth annual U.S. EPA Region V, Indiana Department Environmental Management (IDEM) and Indiana Regulated Community Roundtable on Sept. 23. The event was attended by senior U.S. EPA and IDEM managers, as well as significant manufacturing, energy and development companies operating in Indiana. The roundtable addressed both a review of the 2015 fiscal year regulatory achievements (and to a lesser degree policies) as well as 2016 and beyond goals of U.S. EPA and IDEM. The roundtable also provided opportunities, both during private break-out opportunities as well as at the formal session, to speak with senior EPA and IDEM Management about policies and client concerns. Michael's comments primarily focused on the incoming environmental 111(d) regulations which significantly impacts energy production, fuel choice and energy pricing, and evolving water resource policies.
