David Wong Named Leadership Council on Legal Diversity 2015 Fellow

INDIANAPOLIS – David Wong, a partner in Barnes & Thornburg’s Indianapolis office, has been selected for the 2015 Fellows Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). Wong joins more than 170 other young attorneys from around the country for this year’s Fellows program.

Wong focuses his practice on Internet law, technology, media, intellectual property counseling, risk management, prosecution, policing and enforcement. He regularly advises clients on commercial and intellectual property matters, such as trademark, copyright, defamation, trade dress, advertising, right of publicity, trade secret and unfair competition issues.

“The LCLD Fellows program is helping me build meaningful relationships with peer attorneys in other law firms and in-house,” Wong said. “The program is having a professional impact on my practice by increasing my exposure to potential clients, creating new professional networking opportunities, and providing a platform to make myself a better attorney by learning from others. The LCLD Mentor program has given me the opportunity to share experiences and advice with and provide support to law students.”

Launched in 2011, the LCLD Fellows program is an ambitious, highly structured initiative built to increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments. Over the course of the year-long program, participants will be challenged to improve their professional brand, build relationships that enhance professional development, participate in corporate learning experiences, and sharpen stewardship and leadership skills.

“The LCLD Fellows program is becoming recognized across the country as an extraordinarily effective way to develop talent,” said Brad Smith, LCLD Chair and Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Microsoft Corporation. “Along the way, the Fellows themselves are building a powerful, connected community of rising leaders in the legal profession.”

LCLD is a national organization made up of general counsel and managing partners of the leading corporations and law firms in the country. The Fellows initiative is one of several launched by LCLD since the organization’s founding in 2009. Other programs include a national mentoring initiative serving more than 2,000 mentors and mentees, a 1L Scholars program involving more than 200 first-year law students, and special programming for Members through CLE presentations and other platforms.

With more than 600 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from 12 offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Los Angeles, Michigan, Minneapolis, Ohio, and Washington, D.C.
