Allison Rego is committed to maximizing recovery for clients involved in a variety of insolvency-related events and complex litigation. Regardless of the difficulty of the matter at hand, Allison seeks to create strategies in and out of court that will best serve the clients’ interests.

Allison focuses her practice on commercial law, bankruptcy and financial restructuring, as well as related litigation and appeals. Her clients include creditors, asset purchasers, trustees and committees in reorganizations and liquidations in jurisdictions throughout the United States.

Allison has been involved in a wide array of bankruptcy and restructuring-related matters. She has served on teams that have represented creditor interests in insolvency events in real estate, oil and gas, entertainment and manufacturing. In addition, Allison has represented a range of clients in business related tort and contract issues.

Notably, Allison has co-authored articles that appeared in the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal. As part of her work with the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum, she moderated a panel on the interplay between the bankruptcy and state courts featuring members of both benches.

While in law school, Allison was an extern for the Honorable Janis L. Sammartino of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and for the Honorable M. Margaret McKeown of the U.S. Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit.

  • Represented a joint venture holding a senior secured loan on an age-restricted apartment complex in Las Vegas in a Chapter 11 case, that involved numerous plan and claim related issues, resulting in a favorable outcome 
  • Represented the liquidating trustee of a natural gas exploration and development company in pursuing complex litigation claims in the District of Delaware and the Northern District of Oklahoma
  • Represented the official committee of unsecured creditors in the Chapter 11 case of a modular manufacturing and leasing company filed in the District of Utah, obtaining recovery for unsecured creditors through a structured dismissal of the case after a sale of the debtor’s assets
  • Represented a creditor who provided advertising services to debtor company in defense and resolution of preference claims in a Chapter 7 case in the Southern District of Indiana 
  • Represented an international medical device distributor in Chapter 11 case in the Northern District of Texas in assumption of distribution agreement
  • Represented a Chapter 7 debtor in the Southern District of California in contested matter relating to whether certain employer provided benefits constituted property of the estate
  • Represented a trust asserting a claim stemming from a pre-bankruptcy corporate dissolution action under state law in a Chapter 11 case in the Central District of California
  • Represented a film finance lender asserting claim in a Chapter 11 case in the Central District of California
