WASHINGTON D.C. - A Barnes & Thornburg team, led by Roscoe Howard Jr. and Meena Sinfelt of Barnes & Thornburg’s Washington, D.C., office, recently represented Jesse Benton, former campaign chairman for Ron Paul’s presidential run, in a trial about reporting obligations under the Federal Elections Act. On October 22, Benton was acquitted by a federal jury in Des Moines on one count of making false statements to law enforcement.
Howard issued the following statement after the verdict was announced. “We are pleased to learn that Jesse Benton has been vindicated today of wrongdoing. The jury members worked diligently through the information presented to them and their decision reinforces that he was wrongly charged – and always has been.”
