Mark L. Durbin is a partner in the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP and a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. Mr. Durbin is a trial lawyer and regularly represents national and international clients in intellectual property and complex commercial litigation disputes and consumer class actions. He has tried cases in courts around the country involving patent infringement, breach of contract, breach of warranty, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, theft of trade secrets, defamation, and product liability.
As an outgrowth of his litigation practice, Mr. Durbin also counsels clients extensively on proactive strategies to minimize or avoid disputes and potential liability. He regularly advices clients on supply chain issues, intellectual property strategy, and contract terms and conditions, and advertising practices.
Since 2008, Mr. Durbin has been selected as an Illinois Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine. Among his honors, he is also a past recipient of Chicago Lawyer and Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s “40 Under Forty” recognition.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mr. Durbin practiced at the firm of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP, where he was partner in the Litigation Group. Durbin received his J.D. from DePaul University and B.A. with distinction from the University of Illinois.
Mr. Durbin is a regular contributor to presentations and publications on topics related to litigation and contract issues, and a member of the American and Chicago Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and Northern District of Indiana.
