Janilyn Brouwer Daub is a partner and the administrator of the Labor and Employment Law Department of Barnes & Thornburg LLP’s South Bend and Elkhart, Indiana, offices.

Ms. Daub defends employers in labor and employment litigation in federal and state courts, as well as before various governmental agencies, such as the OFCCP, EEOC and NLRB. In addition to litigating claims, Ms. Daub focuses on proactively advising management on personnel and employment-related issues. She frequently advises clients on issues related to affirmative action plans, including preparing plans, planning for and defending OFCCP audits, and conducting compensation analyses. Ms. Daub also has extensive experience in assisting clients in preparing employee handbooks and policies and advising clients on issues such as the Family & Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, wage and hour laws, and preventing and dealing with harassment. She has provided training sessions to clients and presented seminars on these topics.

Ms. Daub is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Sections of the Indiana State Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan. She is also a member of the St. Joseph County Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before state courts in Indiana and Michigan, as well as the federal courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the Western District of Michigan, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

In the 2018 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, Ms. Daub was recognized for her work in employment law - management and litigation - labor and employment.

Ms. Daub has volunteered her time in various civic, charitable, and religious organizations in both South Bend and Goshen. For many years she served as a class alumni representative for Hope College and remains active in the alumni association. The YWCA of St. Joseph County recognized her business and professional contributions at its 2000 Tribute to Women.

Ms. Daub graduated magna cum laude from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, in 1988 and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1991, she received her J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law, where she was a managing editor of the Ohio State Law Journal.
