Howard J. Rubin is a partner in the Minneapolis, Minnesota office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where he is a member of the firm’s Trusts & Estates Group within the firm’s Corporate Department.
Mr. Rubin focuses his practice on estate and general business succession planning. He works closely with his clients to understand their values and to provide customized and effective strategies for asset protection and wealth transition. Mr. Rubin offers clients a unique and sophisticated background in tax, possesses hands-on experience with foreign trusts, and frequently utilizes his network of connections in the international banking community. Individuals with high net worth regularly seek Mr. Rubin’s advice for their complex estate planning needs.
Mr. Rubin received his B.S.B. in 1977 from the University of Minnesota. In 1980, he earned his J.D. from California Western School of Law, and in 1982 he received his LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University.
Mr. Rubin is a member of the Hennepin County, Minnesota State and American Bar Associations and the ESOP Association. In addition, he served as chair of the board of directors of the Minnesota Lakes Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for seven years, and currently serves on the corporate sponsorship committee for the Association’s annual fundraising gala.
He is admitted to practice in the state of Minnesota, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
