Barnes & Thornburg LLP attorneys in the firm's Intellectual Property Department assisted a leading manufacturer and global supplier of thermoset composite materials in obtaining a favorable result in a recent 5-day jury trial against a customer. The lawsuit began when firm client Norplex-Micarta filed a collection action to obtain amounts owed by Secur*Holdings, which responded with an array of counterclaims including allegations of breach of warranty and theft of trade secrets. Among other things, Secur*Holdings sought to enjoin Norplex-Micarta’s activties in an important market segment of its business. The jury sided with Norplex-Micarta on the issue of the original collection action as well as all of the counterclaims brought by the defendant.
