Dennis C. Becker is a partner in the Fort Wayne, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP where he is a member of the Corporate Department. He represents individuals and businesses in complex business and tax planning controversies and counsels corporations, closely-held businesses, healthcare entities and exempt organizations. Mr. Becker is a frequent lecturer on taxation and exempt organization issues, including tax implications of business transactions, tax litigation, estate planning, structuring not-for-profit entities and foundations, and tax issues affecting S corporations, limited liability corporations, and partnerships. He was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® for 2013, 2014 and 2015 in the field of tax law.
Mr. Becker received a B.S. in accounting from Indiana University in 1973 and earned his J.D. in 1979 from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was case and note editor of The Tax Lawyer. Mr. Becker is admitted to practice law before the Indiana state courts, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, and the United States Tax Court. He practiced as a certified public accountant in the state of Indiana and the District of Columbia.
Mr. Becker serves on the board of directors of Matthew 25, Inc. and was elected to the board of directors of the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) in 2008. He is a past board member of Byron Health Center and past member and chairman of the board of the Lutheran Foundation. He is a member and past treasurer of the Allen County Bar Association, a member and past president (Tax Section) of the Indiana State Bar Association, and a member of the American Bar Association.
