Cheryl C. Northcutt is a paralegal in Barnes & Thornburg’s Indianapolis, Indiana office. She is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and Energy, Telecommunications, and Utilities Practice Group.
Before joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mrs. Northcutt served as special assistant to the deputy general counsel for Home Shopping Network, Inc., in St. Petersburg, Florida, and as administrator of records and forms management for TECO Energy, Inc. As litigation specialist for Tampa Electric Company, she tried cases in small claims and county courts in Hillsborough County, Florida. In the early 1980s, she was employed as an admiralty paralegal for the law firm of Fowler, White, Gillen, Boggs, Villareal & Banker, P.A., in Tampa, Florida. She worked as an internal auditor for Rapid-American Corporation in York, Pennsylvania, in the late 1970s, performing both financial and procedural audits for various holdings.
Mrs. Northcutt was awarded her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in 1974 and received her Certified Legal Assistant® designation in 1986 from the National Association of Legal Assistants. She has authored articles for the Indiana Lawyer and co-authored “Legal Assistant Ethics,” Guideline 9.10 of the Rules of Professional Conduct governing the use of legal assistants as adopted by the Indiana Supreme Court in 1994.
Mrs. Northcutt has been a member of the Indiana Paralegal Association since 1990 and served on its board of directors as secretary (1992–93) and as nominations chairman (1991–93). She also served as vice chair and chair of the Paralegal Committee/Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association (1992–95).
