Charles P. Edwards is co-chair of the firm’s Insurance Recovery and Counseling Practice Group, which exclusively represents policyholders in insurance claims and litigation. Mr. Edwards has worked with a wide variety of policyholders and their insurance claims regarding D&O insurance matters, complex commercial disputes, contract disputes, lost property, errors and omissions, and professional liability matters.
Mr. Edwards also has specific experience consulting with the firm's banking and financial institution clients to recover first-party losses under financial institutions bonds, as well as to secure the company's defense under banker's liability, fiduciary, and similar liability policies.
In addition to insurance litigation, Mr. Edwards represents the firm’s clients in a variety of business litigation matters. He is a frequent lecturer at continuing education conferences and has written and spoken extensively on topics relating to business litigation, including topics such as technology litigation, electronic discovery, contract enforcement and avoidance, business injunctions, and various insurance topics.
Mr. Edwards also has served as counsel for certain large firm clients in nationwide product liability litigation. In that role, he has appeared in courtrooms across the country and coordinated activities of defense counsel in individual cases and in mass tort and multidistrict litigation. He also has assisted in the analysis and coordination of insurance coverage for such cases.
Mr. Edwards is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a Distinguished Fellow of the Indianapolis Bar Association. He has served on many community non-profit boards and as president of the Zionsville Economic Development Commission.
Mr. Edwards was co-lead trial counsel in a six week jury trial that resulted in a $204 million verdict in favor of one of the firm’s policyholder clients in 2015. Since 2009 he has been selected as an Indiana Super Lawyers and since 2013, Mr. Edwards has been included in Best Lawyers in America for the practice areas of Commercial Litigation and Insurance Law. In 2015, he was recognized personally as a Law360 MVP for his work in insurance litigation, and the group he co-leads was recognized as a Practice Group of the Year by Law360.
