Barnes & Thornburg LLP announced today that the firm has received the Minnesota Women Lawyers’ 2012 Leadership Award. The firm was honored at MWL’s 40th Annual Meeting on May 9 at Windows on Minnesota in downtown Minneapolis.
In 1992, Minnesota Women Lawyers established its Leadership Award to recognize legal employers throughout the state who design and implement projects, initiatives, policies and plans with the specific intent of securing the full and equal participation of women in the legal profession.
“We are honored that Minnesota Women Lawyers has recognized Barnes & Thornburg for its dedication to the advancement and success of women in the legal profession,” said Howard Rubin, managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg’s Minneapolis office. “Our attorneys embrace this responsibility through valuable mentoring and professional development initiatives, and we look forward to our continued success in the future.”
“We are extremely proud of the women at Barnes & Thornburg, and this honor reaffirms our strong commitment to promoting a diverse workforce,” added Annamarie Daley, partner in Barnes & Thornburg’s Minneapolis office.
In 2012, Barnes & Thornburg launched the Women’s Marketing Group initiative aimed to promote and enhance professional development for women lawyers. As part of this initiative, the firm’s Minneapolis office hosted the "Women in Leadership: Exploring Pathways" program earlier this year, where nationally acclaimed business, legal and political leaders shared their candid insights on what drives and sustains successful female leaders in their professional and personal achievements.
Barnes & Thornburg’s Diversity Committee regularly works with departments, administrative staff and other committees on recruiting a diverse workforce as well as mentoring and retention issues. The Committee also provides advice with respect to existing and proposed firm policies regarding diversity.
