David Millard and Josh Hollingsworth of the Indianapolis, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP assisted client Finish Line, a leading athletic retailer specializing in brand name footwear, apparel and accessories, in the divestiture of its Man Alive urban apparel business to Jimmy Jazz stores.
David Millard represented the Finish Line in acquiring Man Alive in 2005. The Finish Line grew the urban apparel chain from 38 to 86 stores.
The acquirer of the Man Alive business, Jimmy Jazz, is a rapidly growing urban apparel chain based out of New York. Through this sale, Barnes & Thornburg helped engineer Finish Line's exit from the urban apparel business allowing Finish Line to refocus on its core business.
In a statement, Finish Line Chief Executive Officer Glenn Lyon said, "This transaction will allow us to exit our unprofitable Man Alive business and focus our time and resources on our successful core Finish Line business and thereby generate enhanced shareholder value."
