Barnes & Thornburg LLP is making a $25,000 contribution to two sponsors of relief funds serving the needs of the Japanese people in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami disaster.
The contribution will be equally shared between the Japan-America Society of Indiana (
http://www.japanindiana.org) and the Japan America Society of Chicago (
http://jaschicago.org), both of which have a significant relationship with the firm.
Barnes & Thornburg has a deep connection with Japan. It has a large Japanese Services Group that for more than 20 years has assisted Japanese businesses with their investments in the United States. The firm also has attorneys who serve in significant leadership roles, including Honorary Consul General of Japan in Indianapolis.
"We are saddened by this tragedy and how it has affected the Japanese people and also the business community there," said Alan A. Levin, firm managing partner. "We hope that others will be motivated to give to this worthy cause in the months and years ahead as Japan copes with the aftermath of this tragic event."
