ATLANTA – Barnes & Thornburg LLP announced today that John F. Meyers has joined the firm’s Atlanta office as a partner in the Labor & Employment Law Department.
Meyers has nearly 30 years of experience in representing management in all aspects of labor and employment law and litigation, including National Labor Relations Board matters, labor arbitrations, collective bargaining, unfair competition, enforcement of covenants not to compete, employment discrimination and wrongful discharge. He also has litigation experience from various employment law disputes involving tort, contract and statutory claims by employees.
“Barnes & Thornburg has one of the largest full-service labor and employment groups in the country, which has been a longstanding pillar of strength for the firm,” said Stuart C. Johnson, managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg’s Atlanta office. “As a talented practitioner who is well-connected in the Atlanta business community, John is a perfect fit for us and will play a key role as we continue to strategically enhance and grow those capabilities in this market.”
"We're very pleased to have John join us,” said Kenneth J. Yerkes, chair of the firm’s national Labor & Employment Law Department. “His diverse and complex practice fits well with our platform and client needs and creates additional labor and employment depth in our Atlanta office. This truly was a "win/win" move."
Meyers has served as labor and employment counsel to a variety of private and public companies located in the Southeast, including those in the manufacturing, food service, beverage, property management, computer, security, service, publishing and garment industries. He also advises human resources professionals on employment laws and regulations, including employee discipline, layoffs, wage and hour, employee handbooks, drug testing, workers’ compensation and disability matters.
“I look forward to working with Barnes & Thornburg’s highly skilled and experienced labor and employment attorneys in a setting that will help me to develop and grow my practice,” said Meyers. “I am excited about the future of this firm and pleased to be part of its growing presence in the Southeast. A real draw was the full-service platform here, which will help grow a client base beyond labor and employment.”
