The GDPR’s Impact on Non-Profit and Meeting Industry Organizations

In May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) takes effect as the primary law regulating the collection and use of personal data about EU citizens. This new regulation, which applies to all organizations no matter where they are located in the world that come into contact with personal information about EU individuals, is already having a substantial impact on the way organizations are managing their collection and use of personal information.

With less than three months to go before GDPR takes effect, organizations must get to work now to ensure they are progressing towards compliance by May 25, 2018. Non-compliance can result in significant fines and penalties under GDPR, including fines as high as 4% of the global annual revenue of the organization. U.S.-based Non-Profit and Meeting Industry organizations are especially impacted by this new regulation.
