Barnes & Thornburg LLP opened its Wilmington, Delaware office in August 2009 to better serve its clients in the state where most of the nation's Fortune 500 companies are legally constituted.
Because many privately and publicly held businesses are organized under Delaware law, the state has traditionally been and continues to be a leading jurisdiction for Chapter 11 reorganization cases, intellectual property litigation, and corporate ownership change and governance proceedings, among other matters. These are all areas of practice in which the firm has knowledgeable and experienced attorneys across its various offices.
During its short existence, the 11th office of the firm has already become involved in representation of various clients in many of the significant Chapter 11 cases that have been pending in the Delaware Bankruptcy Courts, including CCS Medical, Cynergy Data, Eddie Bauer, Linens 'n Things, Rocky Mountain Forest Products, Tweeter Opco, VeraSun Energy, and Stant Corporation.
