Government Services and Finance

With a focus on regulatory and administrative matters, lobbying, and government finance, our skilled attorneys and lobbyists represent and advocate for clients whose businesses and livelihoods intersect with the government. The Government Services and Finance Department offers a full range of federal, state, and local government-related legal services to business and government clients.

Anyone doing business these days faces an intricate tangle of laws and regulations, and that is especially true when doing business with the government or when seeking financing from the government for public projects or for public-private partnerships.

We serve as advisors on a wide variety of business, government and trade association issues. Our attorneys help draft legislation and spearhead testimony before Congressional and state legislative committees on issues important to our clients. We work with elected officials and government and private entities to improve communities through economic development and finance efforts.

Barnes & Thornburg's Washington, D.C., office and the Federal Relations and Lobbying Group represent clients in regulatory and administrative matters, including licensing, rate, finance, contracting with the federal government, and complaint proceedings.

While many of our lawyers are located in the D.C. office and have a federal government focus, our firm is well known for the experienced and skillful attorneys who work with governmental bodies at the state level as well, especially in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
