Dana Amato is an associate in the Litigation Department of Barnes & Thornburg’s Chicago office.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg full time in 2017, Ms. Amato served as a summer law clerk in the Chicago office. In addition to her time with Barnes & Thornburg, she gained valuable experience as an intern with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, representing clients in juvenile court for the Bluhm Legal Clinic Children and Family Justice Center, and as an extern for the Honorable Harry Leinenweber of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Ms. Amato earned her J.D., cum laude and with senior research honors, from Northwestern University School of Law in 2017. In law school, she was an executive editor for the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, a teaching assistant and a member of the trial team. Several times a year, Ms. Amato volunteers as a judge for mock trial competitions across the city.

Ms. Amato graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University in 2014 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in English, philosophy and classical studies.

Ms. Amato is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and the Northern District of Illinois.
