Barnes & Thornburg LLP’s Columbus office opened in 2009 to offer Ohio businesses what we believe is a unique platform. As a large, full-service firm focused on businesses' needs in Midwestern and other U.S. markets, we employ a business model built on flexibility and accountability. That strategy allows us to provide the highly sophisticated legal services our clients deserve in the cost-effective manner they desire.

Established Ohio practitioners opened the office eager to bring to the market the firm’s passion for excellence and client service and, initially, a national labor and employment practice group platform. The office has since added significant capabilities in areas such as real estate, government services, business litigation, creditors’ rights, intellectual property, workers’ compensation, environmental law, construction, and health care. The office also provides an entry point for Ohio clients to the firm’s full range of services.

We occupy space we designed on the 33rd floor of Huntington Center. The bright, open space reflects the energy we seek to bring to everything we do. We welcome community groups to meet in our space so we can share our spectacular views of Central Ohio.

The firm continues to build the Columbus team by identifying successful, like-minded practitioners with an entrepreneurial bent. We are passionate about leadership development and our attorneys have participated in programs including Leadership Columbus, the Ohio Women’s Bar Foundation Leadership Institute, the Jo Ann Davidson Leadership Institute, and the Columbus Bar Association Barrister Leadership Program. In part due to the attention to leadership development, the office was selected as a Wonderful Workplace for Young Professionals by the Columbus Young Professionals Club three years in a row.

Our energy extends to our community and our profession. Members of our team hold leadership positions with organizations such as Women Lawyers of Franklin County, the Columbus Bar Association’s Managing Partners’ Diversity Initiative, the Columbus Metropolitan Club, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night campaign. One of our legal administrative assistants won Barnes & Thornburg's Commitment to Community Award, which recognizes the staff member who has made extraordinary contributions to his or her community. The office is proud to be a collaborating sponsor of the Women’s Fund of Central Ohio’s GenderByUs Toolkit, and in 2017 launched a series of events on gender equity in the legal profession that continues today with the participation of several Columbus law firms. The office participates in annual campaigns to support the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, the United Way of Central Ohio, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We also partner with the Central Ohio Association of Corporate Counsel to provide pro bono legal advice and training to area nonprofit organizations.
