Adey O. Adenrele is an associate in Barnes & Thornburg LLP’s Washington D.C. office and a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. He concentrates his practice on white collar crime defense, internal investigations, and anti-trust litigation. Mr. Adenrele also litigates general commercial and product liability cases.

Mr. Adenrele currently serves as a member of the attorney team responsible for addressing Foreign Corrupt Practices Act issues and assisting partner Larry Mackey, the independent corporate compliance monitor for a large U.S. medical device manufacturer and distributor, pursuant to the company’s deferred prosecution agreements with the U.S. government.

He also advocates for pro bono clients, including refugees seeking asylum in the United States and tenants in housing disputes.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg full time, Mr. Adenrele was a law clerk and summer associate in the Indianapolis office. He was also gained experience as a legal intern for the Indiana General Assembly.

Before law school, Mr. Adenrele served as an education volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Cape Verde, Africa. In this role, he acted as project proposal writer, created a seminar for disenfranchised youth on empowerment, helped to construct a local village library, and taught high school English.

Mr. Adenrele is actively involved in the legal and broader communities. He graduated from the Indiana State Bar’s Leadership Development Academy and is now a member of the bar’s Diversity Committee. In the community, he is on the board for Westminster Neighborhood Services, Inc., which is an organization operating in Indianapolis’ near east side to address generational poverty. He is also a big brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana.

Mr. Adenrele received his B.A. in political science and international relations from Union College and went on to receive his M.A., magna cum laude, also in international relations from the State University of New York at the Albany Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy. He went on to earn his J.D. from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. As a law student, Mr. Adenrele was an Order of the Barristers member as well as an associate editor of the law school’s flagship journal, the Indiana Law Review. He was also the president of the Black Law Students Association and an Indiana Conference on Legal Education Opportunities Fellow.

Mr. Adenrele is not regularly admitted to practice law in the local courts of the District of Columbia, and pursuant to Rule 49 is working under the supervision of a member of the DC Bar pending his admission.
